Starting on Monday, April 17th, the Herencia Health Center will expand its services with the opening of a new primary care consultation. This expansion is reinforced by the incorporation of two new professionals in the fields of medicine and nursing.
The Health Center, which is also a Point of Continued Care, is located on Avenida de la Encarnación, with no number, in Herencia. The telephone number for the switchboard and emergencies is 926 573 457.
The arrival of these two new professionals will relieve the pressure on the current consultations and offer better care to the population. Carmen Teresa Olmedo, delegate of the Junta de Comunidades in Ciudad Real, and Francisco José García, delegate of the Ministry of Health, have communicated the news to the mayor of Herencia, Sergio García-Navas.
The expansion of the medical team in the Health Center fulfills the commitment of President García-Page to the City Council of Herencia to improve health care for citizens. In addition, it conforms to the agreement with the Spanish Confederation of Medical Trade Unions to reduce the number of health cards per doctor to less than 1,750. Currently, in Herencia, this figure is above 1,850, but with the new incorporation, it is expected to decrease to approximately 1,400.
Olmedo points out that Primary Care is fundamental for Castilla-La Mancha, where 28% of the health budget is dedicated to this service, well above the national average of 15% and the 25% recommended by the World Health Organization.
On the other hand, Mayor García-Navas has requested the construction of a new health center, since the current facilities are insufficient with the incorporation of new professionals. The City Council would be willing to provide several plots of land for the construction of the new center and has requested that technicians from SESCAM visit Herencia to evaluate which one would be most suitable.
