The streets of Herencia will once again be dressed in art and color in the XVI edition of the National Rapid Painting Contest ‘Villa de Herencia’, which will take place on September 16th. This event, which has become an artistic and cultural reference in the municipality, will be part of the prelude to the Feria and Fiestas de la Virgen de la Merced.
Organized by the Herencia City Council in collaboration with the Provincial Council of Ciudad Real, it is expected that the contest will attract a large number of artists from all over the country. Painters can register at the “Agustín Úbeda” Exhibition Hall from 9 to 10 in the morning, and spend the rest of the morning capturing their vision of the landscapes of Herencia on their canvases, outdoors and in plain view of the public.
Once the competition is over, all the works will be exhibited in the Municipal Summer Auditorium for the jury to decide the winners. Artists who are not awarded will have the opportunity to sell their works on-site.
The contest will have a total of prizes amounting to almost 3,000 euros, thanks to the collaboration of various local companies with the culture. Among the sponsoring companies are Color Vivo Internet, Garden Viveros Ferca, Technical Signs Rotec, Prefadhor, Traza2, Papelería Kalko’s, and Harinas Palmero.
The last edition of the contest had the participation of 24 artists, and the city council hopes that this year will be no different. The councilor for Culture, Aitor Gallego de la Sacristana, highlighted the popularity of the event, not only because of the amount of the prizes but also because of the opportunity it provides to appreciate live and direct artistic talent.
