Empowerment and self-esteem for older women in Herencia

Last Friday, the Herencia Senior Center became the stage for a significant and transformative initiative: Project Lucía. This project, focused on the prevention of multiple and intersectional discrimination, has been specially designed for women over 65 years old residing in rural environments, such as Herencia.

Project Lucía aimed to provide a safe and conducive space for these women, who are often invisible in society, to explore and strengthen their self-esteem and personal empowerment. The activity was an opportunity for the participants to recognize their worth and individual contribution to the community.

The day was marked by moments of reflection and discovery. The women had the opportunity to identify and celebrate their strengths, share life experiences, and project their potential in an environment of support and mutual understanding. These types of activities are fundamental for promoting the recognition and appreciation of older women, especially in rural areas where they may face specific challenges.

The Herencia Senior Center proved to be an ideal place to carry out Project Lucía, offering a warm and welcoming environment where these women could feel heard, respected, and valued. The day was not only a space for individual empowerment, but also a celebration of the wisdom and experience that these women bring to society.

The success of Project Lucía in Herencia reflects the importance of continuing to develop programs that address the needs and realities of older women in rural areas. This project represents a step forward on the path to a more inclusive and equitable society, where the value and contribution of each person are recognized and celebrated.
