Herencia has kicked off its new tourist proposal “Herencia Barroca” this Friday, with a participation of 40 people who were able to enjoy a tour of the architectural and artistic treasures of the Baroque period in the town.
A journey to the past through art and culture
The route, presented a few months ago at the International Tourism Fair (Fitur), offers visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich history of Herencia during the 17th and 18th centuries. The tour began at the La Labradora hermitage, an architectural gem from 1655 that stands out for its semi-spherical dome decorated with the litanies of the Virgin.
Participants continued their journey back in time by visiting the Cloister of La Merced, built in 1656, before culminating the experience at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, where they could admire the monumental pictorial work of the Chapel of the Most Holy.
A multisensory experience
What makes this route unique is its interactive and multisensory approach. Through music and dance, visitors were able to immerse themselves more deeply in the atmosphere of Herencia during the 17th and 18th centuries, offering a tourist experience that goes beyond simple observation.
Institutional support and enhancement of heritage
The Mayor of Herencia, Sergio García-Navas, along with several councilors from the Government team, attended this first route, demonstrating institutional support for this tourist initiative. Their presence underscores the importance that the City Council places on enhancing the local heritage, especially that which has been recently restored and brought to light.
This new tourist attraction not only promises to attract art and history enthusiasts, but also represents an important step in Herencia’s strategy to enhance its cultural and tourist offer, taking advantage of the richness of its Baroque heritage.
With the success of this first edition, “Herencia Barroca” is shaping up to be a new milestone in the region’s tourism calendar, promising to attract visitors interested in discovering the hidden treasures of Baroque Spain in the heart of La Mancha.
