November 14th will mark a day of special interest for residents of municipalities with smaller populations, as the town hall courtyard will be the stage, starting at 11:00 am, for the “Administration Close to you” event. This initiative, promoted by the Government of Spain, aims to bring the services of the General State Administration (AGE) closer to those citizens who, due to living in smaller towns, may encounter difficulties in managing state procedures and benefits.
During the event, attendees will be able to receive personalized advice on managing the most common procedures, find answers to their questions, and get help obtaining the digital certificate and the permanent Cl@ve. These tools are essential for electronically interacting with Public Administrations, simplifying processes and avoiding unnecessary travel.
What is “Administration close to you”?
“Administration close to you” is an initiative of the Ministry of Territorial Policy, in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), which seeks to democratize access to state administrative services. It is an initiative designed to reach localities with a population between 500 and 8,000 inhabitants, and in cases of provinces with a more dispersed population distribution, also to those municipalities with less than 500 inhabitants.
The goal is clear: citizens will not have to make long trips to access the General State Administration. By simply going to their town hall, they can obtain the digital identification means necessary to access public services, they will be provided with detailed information on the available service offerings, and they will be instructed on the benefits of tools such as the Citizen Folder and its corresponding mobile application, recently launched by the Government.
In addition, at these events, direct assistance will be provided so that citizens can make any request or procedure related to the services offered by the delegations, sub-delegations, and island directorates ‘on site’. Detailed information will also be provided on the most requested services by the population, ensuring that residents can resolve all their administrative matters without having to leave their municipality.
This initiative demonstrates the Government’s commitment to facilitate digital integration and equitable access to public services, ensuring that distance or the size of municipalities is not an obstacle to full administrative citizenship.
