The young Clara Eugenia Úbeda-Contreras Díaz-Pacheco, from Herencia (Ciudad Real) and currently a second year Fine Arts undergraduate student at the University of Valencia, has won the first prize in the first illustrated micro-story competition organized by the Villarta de San Juan City Council on the occasion of the events held to commemorate the international Women’s Day.
According to the rules of the competition organized by the Villarta de San Juan municipal library, the works submitted had to be completely unpublished in both their text and illustration, and the theme of both had to be about women in any of their aspects.
The young Herencia artist, Clara Eugenia Úbeda-Contraras, won the second prize with her work “There she was”, a tribute to all grandmothers, mothers, and daughters based on the artist’s own family history in Herencia.
This is the second time she has been awarded in this competition as she won the second prize last year. In addition, she has received other awards, such as the first prize in the VIII Contest of literary portraits organized by the School of Arts and Superior Design of Tomelloso, and has also participated in several collective exhibitions of young artists in the province of Ciudad Real or at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Valencia, as well as creating the poster for the “Sábado de los Ansiosos 2023” of the Herencia Carnival.
