In preparation for its Carnival, a National Tourist Interest Festival, Herencia has begun the process of selecting the Perlés de Honor for the year 2024. The Carnival Commission recently met to update and present the criteria that will govern the selection of the awardees in this new edition, introducing significant changes to adapt to the social and cultural evolution of the town.
One of the notable modifications is the expansion of the Associative category, now renamed Humanitarian-Associative. This category broadens its scope to include not only associations but also clubs, brotherhoods, and individuals who have had a significant and extensive impact or carried out activities of great relevance in Herencia.
Candidates for the Perlés de Honor can be nominated until January 19th. The jury, composed of members of the Carnival Commission along with specialized municipal technicians, will conduct a secret vote to decide the winners. An exception is the Institutional Perlé, which will be directly designated by the Board of Governors. The awardees will be announced on February 9th, at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Carnival, which will be celebrated from February 3rd to 14th this year.
Mayor Sergio García-Navas, also in charge of Festivities, has expressed his gratitude for the work of the Commission and emphasized the importance of transparency and fairness in the selection process. “The Perlé de Honor is a symbol of prestige and recognition in Herencia, so it is essential that its awarding is a faithful reflection of the commitment and excellence of the honorees,” said García-Navas.
With these updates, Herencia ensures that its traditions remain alive and constantly evolving, celebrating those who significantly contribute to the social and cultural fabric of the town.
