Herencia mobilizes for health with the ‘7000StepsX’ initiative.

In order to promote an active and healthy lifestyle, the town of Herencia, in Ciudad Real, has incorporated the new season of the ‘7000PasosX’ program into its activities calendar. This program, promoted by the Ministry of Health of Castilla-La Mancha and carried out by the Health Service in collaboration with local governments, aims to encourage daily physical exercise and active leisure among citizens.

The ‘7000PasosX’ proposal kicks off in Herencia this Sunday, November 12, with a walk that promises to integrate the community in a healthy and recreational route. The hiking route, which will start at Plaza de España at 10:00 am, will take participants to explore the natural beauty of the Sierra de la Horca, culminating back at the starting point after covering a distance of over six kilometers, approximately the 7,000 steps that give the program its name.

The event will not only focus on the walk, but will also offer a range of complementary activities. Before the departure, attendees can enjoy an active dance class led by Fátima Martín, a monitor from the Municipal Sports Schools. At the end of the route, a tabata session will be organized, led by pilates instructor Gema González, to enhance aerobic capacity and contribute to the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. As the culmination of the morning of activity, a healthy breakfast will be served to all participants.

Participation in ‘7000PasosX’ is free, and those interested can register through the Municipal Sports Service or directly at Plaza de España on the day of the event. In addition, registered participants will receive a gift of a backpack with sports equipment at the start of the walk.

During the presentation of ‘7000PasosX’ in Herencia, the manager of the Alcázar de San Juan Integrated Area, Lucas Salcedo, the mayor Sergio García-Navas, and the Sports Councilor Serafín Tajuelo have detailed the advantages of this activity. Salcedo has highlighted that the program aligns with the objectives of the Health Plan of Castilla-La Mancha Horizon 2025, reaffirming the importance of promoting healthy habits and disease prevention.

Mayor García-Navas has expressed his enthusiasm for the program’s reception, revealing that they already have about 300 registered participants and are expecting high participation. “We come to promote a healthy lifestyle in a community that already adopts these practices, as demonstrated by the daily walking routine of our neighbors,” García-Navas said.

Finally, the mayor has thanked the Government of Castilla-La Mancha for selecting Herencia as the headquarters for this program, emphasizing the importance of prevention in health. “The disease that is best cured is the one that does not occur, and one of the keys to avoiding it is to stay physically active and to take care of our diet. These 7,000 steps are one more step towards a longer and healthier life for our citizens,” García-Navas concluded.
