Herencia takes action against gender violence with a comprehensive program.

In Herencia, the Women’s Center has prepared a series of special activities to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, which is celebrated on November 25th. Under the slogan ‘Stand Out’, promoted by the government of Castilla-La Mancha, the program will run from November 17th to 25th, focusing on raising awareness and eradicating this social scourge.

The City Councilor for Equality, Aitor Gallego de la Sacristana, has emphasized the importance of these actions to raise awareness among all sectors of the population, especially young people. The program includes educational initiatives such as distributing bookmarks to elementary school students, holding the IV Contest of Stories against Gender Violence, and workshops titled ‘Abuse is Not Love’, led by the Ana Bella Foundation. In addition, there will be storytelling sessions focused on non-violence towards women.

For women over 65, a training program has been organized as part of the Lucía Program, which aims to promote personal empowerment, strengthen self-esteem, and security. Additionally, digital skills workshops and mobile phone usage workshops will be offered to reduce the digital divide.

On November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, a silent march organized by the Feminist Association ‘Herencia de Mujeres’ will take place. The event will culminate in the Municipal Auditorium with the reading of the Institutional Manifesto and the performance of the theatrical play ‘Segaremos Ortigas con los tacones’, which portrays the hidden lives of women immersed in the world of prostitution.

Gallego de la Sacristana has highlighted the commitment of the Women’s Center, the Feminist Association, and the Educational Centers in the fight against gender violence, emphasizing the importance of involving young people in the detection and prevention of any form of violence. The program aims to awaken greater sensitivity in the community and reaffirm that the fight against gender violence is a shared responsibility for everyone.
