Basilia Jimeno Fernández will receive the "Unforgettable" award from IES Hermógenes Rodríguez. - Herencia (Ciudad Real) Spain

Basilia Jimeno Fernández will receive the “Unforgettable” award from IES Hermógenes Rodríguez.

On Wednesday, March 8th at 12:00, the documentary “Bringing to light, memories of the shaved ones” will be shown at the Municipal Auditorium of Herencia, where the “Unforgettable VII” award ceremony will also take place.

The annual recognition, UNFORGETTABLES, is an initiative of Hermógenes Rodríguez High School in collaboration with the Herencia Local Women’s Center for educational purposes.

In this edition, with the slogan “combing forgetfulness”, we want to look back and honor the memory of all the women ignored in official history, who suffered abuse of power and who we know as “the shaved ones”.

Dª Basilia Jimeno Fernández will receive the award, daughter of one of those women in our environment (Villafranca de los Caballeros, Herencia, Puerto Lápice and Villarta de San Juan) who, according to her candidacy, were direct and transgenerational victims of Francoist repression; they were shaved, raped, tortured and in some cases, murdered by the ideals of the men in their families or by their own. Basilia represents the need for truth, justice, reparation and guarantees of non-repetition in reference to all crimes inflicted on women in wars, dictatorships, and post-conflicts.

We will have the participation of Dª María Dolores Martín-Consuegra, psychologist and anthropologist, co-director of the documentary “Bringing to light, memories of the shaved ones”, which will be screened at this event and will lead to a debate on the humiliations suffered by these women and silenced for so long.
