Every year, around March 8th, the Women’s Center of the Herencia City Council presents a program of activities to commemorate International Women’s Day. This year, the III Women’s Key Painting Contest is taking place and the winner will be announced on March 6th. Various activities will be carried out for a week to make visible the struggle for equality of rights between women and men. In collaboration with the local educational centers, the VII Marathon for Reading for Equality, the “Growing Woman” Storytelling and several workshops on the prevention of macho violence and sexual diversity will be held. On March 8th, the Herencia House will host the Video Forum “The Divine Order”, a meeting to discuss the progress and difficulties encountered by women in accessing such an important civil right as the right to vote. The commemorative event will be held on March 10th in the Patio of the City Council with the presence of the main authorities and the Feminist Association “Herencia de Mujeres”. During the event, the Institutional Manifesto will be read and the monologue “Raíces de Tierra y Azúcar”, by Pilar Hernández Baptista, can be enjoyed. The Councilor for Social Welfare, Conchi Rodríguez-Palancas, has invited to participate in these activities that aim to raise awareness among the population to end inequalities and highlight the importance of sensitizing from an early age.
