The Local Security Board of Herencia met on Tuesday to coordinate security measures for the upcoming Pilgrimages of San Isidro and Virgen de la Cabeza, which will take place on the weekends of May 13th and 20th, respectively. The meeting, chaired by the Government Delegate in Ciudad Real, María de los Ángeles Herreros, and the Mayor of Herencia, Sergio García-Navas, aimed to adopt the necessary measures to ensure safety during the celebrations.
This year, the festivities will include the “Weekend Fest”, a cultural event that is expected to attract a large number of visitors due to the scheduled activities and concerts. For this reason, Herreros and García-Navas have adjusted the security measures to meet the needs and ensure the safety of residents and visitors. Parking areas will be provided, and traffic will be restricted in the areas with the highest pedestrian traffic. In addition, a unified medical station will be installed by Civil Protection and Red Cross to attend to any emergencies.
Due to the high risk of forest fires during this period, the use of fire will be authorized only in prepared installations using commercial charcoal or portable gas stoves, with the necessary precautions taken. The Mayor stressed the importance of respecting safety rules and paying attention to the instructions of the authorities, as well as not throwing cigarette butts or glass on the ground, as they may cause a forest fire.
Herreros highlighted the close relationship between the Local Police and the Civil Guard to ensure effective security for all attendees. The meeting also included representatives from the Civil Guard, Local Police, and Civil Protection.
As in previous years, there will be a free bus service from the station to La Pedriza, which will extend its hours from 7:00 pm to 6:00 am. There will also be new toilets, picnic tables, seating, and children’s games in the barbecue area. With these measures, Herencia is preparing to enjoy two of the most popular and deeply-rooted celebrations in nature, with good music and the best atmosphere at the well-known “Pozos del Agua”.
