Once again, the end of the sports season will be a day of celebration for both young and old in Herencia. The closing ceremony of the Sports Schools will put a finishing touch to a year filled with training, competitions, effort, and dedication from our athletes. On Friday, June 9th, the Summer Auditorium will host the IV Sports Night, which will serve to recognize the efforts of all the athletes who participated during the 2022/2023 season in the Sports Schools, as well as to present awards in various categories to the most outstanding athletes chosen by the Local Council of Sports and Physical Activities. Their names were revealed during an extraordinary session held some days ago. The individual athlete awards were given to Inmaculada García-Navas González-Román and Lorena Cobos Escribano; the Prize for Collective Sports went to the female participants of the Maintenance Gymnastics of the Municipal Sports Schools; the award for Sporting Trajectory was given to Francisco Martínez Gómez-Camacho “Pocho”; the Sports Support award will go to the plumbing and heating company “El Puri”; the Sports Values award will be given to José Ramón Mateos de Arriba Galán; Elena Tajuelo Corrales will receive the Inclusion Award on Friday, and the young athletes Anna Yeghiazaryan, Celia Martín-Consuegra Gallego de la Sacristana and Lorena Cobos Escribano received the Special Mention in this edition. In short, this event is a recognition of the effort of the students, the support of families, and the dedication and daily work of coaches and volunteers who, throughout the season, have helped to transmit the essential values of sport. On Saturday, a Sports Rotation Day will take place from 9:30 am, covering disciplines such as Athletics, Active Dance, Badminton, Basketball, Handball, Cycling, Soccer, Beach Handball, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Karate, Paddle Tennis and Volleyball. This session will provide an opportunity to try other activities that might be of interest to younger participants in the next season, as well as playing sports with friends or making new contacts and friendships. The season closure will lead to summer activities such as swimming or the Summer School, whose registrations will begin in the coming days.
