The Civil Guard of Ciudad Real has dealt a heavy blow to drug trafficking in our region. According to reports from various regional media outlets, including La Tribuna, more than six kilograms of cocaine have been seized. The drugs, coming from abroad, entered Spain by sea, were taken to Madrid, and from there, they were distributed to different parts of the country.
The police investigation started about four weeks ago and culminated in several home searches in the province of Ciudad Real. Most of these searches were carried out in Alcázar de San Juan, but there were also actions in our town of Herencia, as well as in Villarta de San Juan. There were also more searches carried out in the Community of Madrid, in the capital and in Torrejón de Velasco, among other places.
This significant achievement adds to a long list of operations against drug trafficking carried out by the Civil Guard in our province. One of the most important blows was the large-scale operation carried out earlier this year in Alcázar de San Juan, Manzanares, and Tomelloso, where a total of twenty kilograms of cocaine were seized. This operation resulted in the arrest of sixteen individuals and the disruption of what Maria Angeles Herreros, the Government’s subdelegate in Ciudad Real, described as the “largest criminal network related to drug trafficking in the province.”
This new success in the fight against drug trafficking highlights the authorities’ commitment to the safety and well-being of the population in Herencia and throughout the province of Ciudad Real.
