Herencia joins in the observation of the Tears of Saint Lawrence.

The City Council of Herencia, in response to the request of many of its astronomy-loving residents, has decided to join in the celebration of one of the most spectacular nights of the year: the August meteor shower, also known as the Tears of St. Lawrence.

In order to provide an ideal setting to observe this astronomical phenomenon, the decision has been made to turn off the lights of the windmills in the Sierra de San Cristóbal. This decision will help reduce light pollution and offer a purer and more starry sky for the enjoyment of all attendees.

La Mancha is famous for its clear skies and areas with little light pollution, making it an ideal setting for observing stars, the Milky Way, and, of course, shooting stars. Within this region, Herencia stands out as a privileged location for this activity, thanks to its mountains and landscapes such as the Pozo del Agua and El Navajo, among others.

The City Council invites all citizens and visitors to be part of this magical night and immerse themselves in the immensity of the cosmos. It is an unparalleled opportunity to experience and appreciate the majesty of our universe from a natural and privileged environment. Don’t miss it and experience the magic of summer under a starry sky!
