A window to the forgotten heritage

On October 12th, Herencia will be dressed in the charm and nostalgia of times past through the III Edition of the Route of the Patios. The oldest houses in the town will reveal their secrets, offering residents and tourists the opportunity to immerse themselves in architectural corners that have been hidden between the pages of time.

For this edition, two different routes have been organized. The first, which will start at 5:30 p.m., repeats the essence of previous editions and includes stops at the patios of Colón 3 street and Carrasco Alcalde 13 street, both living testimonies of the 18th century, to conclude at Tahona 8 street, a 1920 gem. On the other hand, the second route, which starts at 7:30 p.m., promises surprises with the visit to the patio of the Casa de la Merced, a future lodging and relic from the 18th century, and continues through Colón 48 street and Lope de Vega 26 street, both marvels from the 20th century.

These theatrical routes, with a duration of approximately 60 minutes, offer more than just a walk: they are an immersion in history and in the most intimate corners of Herencia. Each corner tells stories and keeps secrets from past generations.

This evocative encounter is possible thanks to the Tourism Department, which has worked together with the owners of these emblematic houses. As a result of multiple meetings, economic agreements have been established that will allow the opening and enjoyment of these patios on several occasions throughout the year.

Heritage enthusiasts will have new opportunities to explore these spaces, as two additional dates for the routes have already been planned: December 6th, in commemoration of the Spanish Constitution, and May 1, 2024, both dates of national relevance. It is a unique occasion to connect with the past and appreciate the architectural and cultural richness of Herencia.
