On Friday, October 20th, as part of the 18th Anniversary of the inauguration of the Occupational and Day Center “El Picazuelo,” Mayor Sergio García Navas, along with the Councilwoman of Social Welfare, Conchi Rodríguez Palancas, shared a festive morning with the users of this institution.
Since its opening, “El Picazuelo” has experienced significant growth. What started as a modest project with only 10 users is now celebrating its success and expansion, accommodating 22 individuals who benefit from specialized programs. These programs are tailored to different schedules and activities, specifically designed to meet the needs of each user.
The tour of the center allowed a close look at the various activities that users carry out on a daily basis. One of the most notable tasks is paper shredding. In addition, they engage in creating customized objects for events, an initiative that not only allows them to develop their skills but also generates additional income for the center.
But the collaborations of “El Picazuelo” go beyond that. The center has established relationships with various companies, primarily in the jewelry and hospitality sectors, offering services such as laundry and DIY workshops. These partnerships demonstrate the versatility and value that users bring to the workplace.
In the context of their celebration, the Occupational and Day Center is also preparing various events to commemorate Disability Week, reaffirming their commitment and dedication to the inclusion and recognition of people with different abilities.
Undoubtedly, this anniversary not only symbolizes years of service but also the transformation and evolution of a space that has improved the quality of life for many and continues to work with passion and dedication for a more inclusive future.
