A key meeting for the sector with the support of the regional government.

The 10th Agriculture and Livestock Conference in Herencia started on Tuesday with resounding success in terms of participation. These conferences, which have established themselves as a reference in the agri-food sector, have the strong support of the regional government.

The opening of the event was attended by notable figures such as the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development, Julián Martínez Lizán; the provincial director of Agriculture, Amparo Bremard; the mayor Sergio García-Navas, and the councilor for Rural Development, María Eugenia Díaz-Pachego, among other members of the municipal corporation.

The mayor, García-Navas, highlighted these conferences as a crucial meeting point where topics of great relevance to the sector are discussed, and where the agri-food products that make Herencia special are highlighted.

Over the course of these four days, topics of great interest will be discussed, such as the consequences of climate change on agriculture, the current situation of the Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) market, and the history and commercialization of pistachios in our region. “These are issues that really matter to those who work and live in this sector,” emphasized María Eugenia Díaz-Pacheco, who, after many years on the Local Agricultural Council, approaches these conferences in her new role as councilor in the field.

In the opening session, Joaquín Cuadrado Ortiz, the general director of Agrarian Planning of the Junta, highlighted the importance of ensuring agricultural exploitations. His intervention took place in the courtyard of the Town Hall, where not only farmers and ranchers from Herencia gathered, but also professionals from the entire region, reaffirming the importance of these conferences for the agri-food sector.

The highlight of this first session was the ‘Flavors of the Village’ tasting and pairing, by Pintona Craft Beer Bar, which offered exquisite products and artisan deli meats ‘Del Pueblo’, once again delighting all those present.

These interesting talks and tastings will continue until Friday, October 27, with the hope of attracting a large number of attendees.
