Herencia kicks off the Seventh Edition of “Immortals” with a record number of youth participants.

The seventh edition of the “Inmortales” reading project in Herencia has begun with unprecedented success, marking a record participation. This project, led by the councilor for Youth and the Municipal Library, Aitor Gallego de la Sacristana, in collaboration with the three secondary schools in the town, has sparked notable enthusiasm among students.

In this edition, 163 young people from 3rd and 4th of ESO and 1st of high school will have the honor and responsibility of being part of the jury. Their task will be to decide which of the three finalist books will be awarded the title of “Immortal”. This initiative not only promotes reading among young people, but also gives them a voice and a vote in a culturally significant event for the community.

The finalists this year are works of notable literary quality: “La dama de Ceilán” by Ana Alcolea, “Cris5ceros” by Jorge Gómez Soto, and “Dead Boys” by Paloma González Rubio. These titles have been selected for their ability to connect with the young audience and for their contribution to cultural and literary enrichment.

A notable novelty of this edition is the active participation of students in the organization of the event. For the first time, it will be the young people themselves who will conduct interviews with the authors in the scheduled meetings throughout the course. This initiative provides students with a unique opportunity to interact directly with the writers, enriching their reading experience and bringing them closer to the creative process behind each work.

The “Inmortales” project has established itself as a key initiative in promoting reading and culture in Herencia, demonstrating the commitment of the local administration and educational centers to the intellectual and cultural development of young people. With the enthusiasm and record participation of this year, a successful and enriching edition is predicted for all involved.
