Herencia and Tecnove at the forefront of international solidarity with Ukraine

The town of Herencia and the company Tecnove have played a crucial role in an international solidarity project led by the Spanish Government. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain, José Manuel Albares, visited Tecnove in Herencia to witness the completion of a significant humanitarian project: the transformation of two armored military vehicles into advanced ambulances destined for Ukraine.

These armored ambulances, previously deactivated 6×6 military vehicles (BMRs), have been adapted by Tecnove to become Advanced Life Support units. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology for prehospital care, they include oxygen, cardio-respiratory monitors, and defibrillators, among other essential equipment for treating patients in war scenes and facilitating their transport to medical centers.

This project is part of Spain’s commitment to Ukraine in its struggle for freedom and peace. During the visit, Albares, accompanied by the Ukrainian Ambassador to Spain, Serhii Pohoreltsev, reaffirmed Spain’s continuous support for Ukraine, highlighting that “the largest cooperation and aid program that Spain has ever carried out in its history” includes not only the donation of these ambulances but also significant financial support, with nearly 50 million euros in humanitarian aid and 250 million earmarked for reconstruction.

The Mayor of Herencia, Sergio García-Navas, and the Urbanism Councilor, José Manuel Bolaños, were also present to recognize the vital role of Tecnove in this humanitarian aid project. The visit underscored the capacity of local companies to contribute to global causes and the importance of cooperation between governments, companies, and communities.

This project not only represents a technical advancement but also a symbol of global solidarity. The medicalized armored ambulances are a tangible demonstration of Spain and Herencia’s commitment to humanitarian support and international peace, providing vital assistance in one of the most challenging conflicts of the present time. The collaboration between the Government of Spain, the European Commission, and Tecnove reflects a spirit of solidarity and cooperation that transcends borders, offering tangible hope to the people of Ukraine.
