Mayor of Herencia, Sergio García Navas, visited one of the Digital Inclusion Points (PID) in the town this morning, accompanied by Mari Carmen Tajuelo, one of the monitors in charge of this project. After a period of inactivity, the PID service has been resumed this January, thanks to the collaboration and support of the City Council.
The Digital Inclusion Points project, which had experienced a halt due to changes in the Provincial Council Corporation, has resumed its essential activity in the community. Up to this point, the Provincial Council of Ciudad Real had assumed the total cost of the staff salaries for this service. However, with the resumption of activities, the City Council of Herencia has stepped in to finance 30% of the salary for a second monitor, showing its commitment to the continuity of the project.
The PIDs, located in the Youth Center and the Municipal Library, play a crucial role in the community, facilitating citizens’ access to electronic administration. These points are equipped with technology and trained staff to assist citizens in carrying out online procedures and transactions, which is particularly relevant in an era where the digitalization of public services is increasingly prominent.
The visit of Mayor García Navas to one of these points not only highlights the importance of the PIDs in the town, but also reinforces the City Council’s commitment to ensuring that all citizens, regardless of their digital skills or knowledge, have access to electronic services.
