The Herencia Carnival attracts nearly 5,000 visitors to its offering.

The Herencia Carnival, a celebration with the distinction of being a National Tourist Interest Festival, has once again demonstrated its power of attraction and its cultural and touristic importance in the region of Castilla-La Mancha. This year, the event has managed to attract about 5,000 visitors from different parts of Spain, consolidating its position as one of the most emblematic carnivals in the country. The Minister of Economy, Companies and Employment of Castilla-La Mancha, Patricia Franco, highlighted the cultural value and tourist impact of this celebration during her attendance at the Offering Parade, accompanied by the Government Subdelegate in the province, David Broceño, and the mayor of Herencia, Sergio García-Navas.

The Herencia Carnival is not only a display of joy and color, but also a reflection of the historical traditions of the town. This year’s edition has brought together more than 30 groups and troupes, with more than 3,000 participants parading through the streets, offering a spectacle full of creativity and enthusiasm. The Offering Parade, in particular, is an expression of the cultural richness of Herencia, where the festive character of the carnival is mixed with respect for traditions, highlighting the route of the Banner of the Souls and the offering made by the groups before the parade.

The Government of Castilla-La Mancha has reiterated its support for the initiative to declare the Herencia Carnival as an Intangible Cultural Heritage, a step that would further strengthen its cultural and touristic relevance. Patricia Franco has emphasized the commitment of the regional government in this process, recognizing the importance of promoting and protecting the traditions that define the region’s identity.

The Herencia Carnival is one of the 21 events in Castilla-La Mancha recognized as National Tourist Interest Festivals, and its ability to attract thousands of visitors every February is evidence of its attractiveness and uniqueness. Data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE), based on mobile phone signals, confirm the tourist impact of this celebration, which continues to grow and enrich the cultural and leisure offerings of the province of Ciudad Real and the whole of Castilla-La Mancha. With its declaration as an Intangible Cultural Heritage on the horizon, the Herencia Carnival is preparing to start a new chapter in its history, promising to continue to be a reference point for Spanish culture and tradition.
