On the next Sunday, March 17, the peaceful place of the Sierra de la Horca in Herencia will be transformed into the epicenter of regional mountain biking, hosting the second edition of the XCO race, a prominent event within the BTT XCO Cup of the Castilla La Mancha Cycling Federation. This year, the competition has five locations throughout the region, and Herencia has the honor of being the only town in the province of Ciudad Real selected to be part of this circuit.
This event, organized by the Cycling Club “Amigos del Plato Grande” with the support of the Municipal Sports Service of the City Council, also has the endorsement of the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha (JCCM) and the Provincial Council of Ciudad Real, emphasizing the importance and appeal of this competition for both athletes and cycling enthusiasts.
The race promises to be a challenge for both adult runners and the youngest, with categories ranging from Veterans and Elite, to Women and children’s categories, ensuring that all cycling enthusiasts have their place in this exciting event. In addition, the XCO Sierra de la Horca race stands out for its inclusivity, offering a wide range of categories such as Sub23 Female, Master 30, 40, 50 and 60, Junior, Cadets, and a special Cyclist Tourist category for those who want to enjoy the route without the competitive spirit.
Those interested in participating can register through the link provided on the official website Yo Soy Ciclista, with a registration cost of €15.00 for federated riders and €25.00 for non-federated riders. It is important to note that the limit of participants is set at 300, so those interested are encouraged to register as soon as possible to secure their spot.
The collection of race numbers will take place on the same day of the race, from 7:30 am to 1:00 pm, allowing participants to prepare in advance for the start, scheduled for 9:30 am.
