The recent 2024 Carnival of Herencia has undoubtedly been an event to remember, according to the words of Mayor Sergio García-Navas during his interview on the program Hoy por Hoy de Cadena SER. “There have been more people than ever in the streets,” he said enthusiastically, reflecting the unprecedented success of this edition of the carnival.
The Carnival of Herencia, known for its uniqueness and tradition, has exceeded all expectations this year, attracting visitors not only from the locality and its surroundings, but also from different parts of Spain. This increase in participation has resulted in streets crowded with color, music, and joy, further consolidating the festival as a national tourist attraction.
García-Navas shared in the interview his satisfaction with how the scheduled events unfolded, from the traditional parades to the contests and activities for all ages. Safety, organization, and citizen participation have been key to the success of the carnival this year, aspects on which the City Council and organizers have placed special emphasis.
The mayor also highlighted the importance of the carnival as an economic driver for Herencia, pointing out the positive impact that the increase in visitors has had on local businesses, hospitality, and the service sector. “The carnival is not only an expression of our culture and traditions, but also an opportunity to energize the local economy,” explained García-Navas.
Thanking the organizers, volunteers, security forces, and all Herencia residents for their collaboration and participation, the mayor is already looking towards the future. “We will work for the Carnival of Herencia to continue to grow and become an even greater reference within and outside our borders,” he said optimistically.
