The Herencia CF, in collaboration with the Town Council, has formally begun the process to establish a women’s football team in the town, integrated within the structure of the Club. This recent agreement between both entities launches a long-awaited initiative.
With the aim of enriching the sports offering of the municipality and ensuring a continuous path of growth for young female footballers, the project seeks to fulfill two essential missions. First, to promote and develop women’s football, and second, to provide a long-term training and competition structure for the girls who are already training in the female teams of the Municipal Sports Schools.
The sports authorities of Herencia CF and the Municipal Sports Service have started working on the preparations to launch this initiative in the 2024/2025 season. As an initial step, recruitment days will be organized to assess the interest and the number of possible participants in the team, which will be open to those born in the year 2010 and earlier.
Soon, all the necessary information to register for the recruitment training sessions, which will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays in May, will be announced through the Club’s official channels. The response to these sessions will determine the feasibility of the project.
The Sports Councilor, Serafín Tajuelo Díaz-Pavón, has expressed his enthusiasm: “Women’s football is on the rise, gaining professionalism and popularity year after year, that is why we want to promote and encourage this sport among the youth.”
This is a significant step towards equality and empowerment through sports in Herencia, where women’s football hopes to not only take root but also flourish with the support and vision of the community.
