Herencia requests further collaboration from the Provincial Government to facilitate key projects in the town.

In an important meeting held this past Tuesday, the mayor of Herencia, Sergio García-Navas, accompanied by the provincial deputy and councilor of Urbanism and Economic Development, José Manuel Bolaños, met with Miguel Ángel Valverde Menchero, president of the Diputación de Ciudad Real. The objective of this meeting, the first since the change of provincial government, was to strengthen the request for support and collaboration to continue with various significant projects in Herencia.

During the meeting, the mayor emphasized the need to advance the project of the future inn, an emblematic building acquired with funds from the Diputación in the previous legislature. García-Navas stressed the importance of equipping this infrastructure, similar to other inns in the region, hoping to have the financial support of the current provincial government.

Additionally, the mayor presented a request for collaboration for the recovery of more Baroque artworks in the historic Church of the Immaculate Conception and for the rehabilitation of the roof of the Convent of La Merced, celebrating this year the third centenary of the brotherhood.

Another crucial demand discussed was the elimination of co-payments in the Digital Inclusion Points and in the renovation of the Water Network. So far, the City Council has had to cover 30% of the cost of these subsidies, a significant financial effort for the municipality. García-Navas urged the Diputación to reconsider this policy to “facilitate the daily life” of Herencia.

The mayor also requested renewed support for the Carnival of Herencia, recognized as a National Tourist Interest Festival, and for the promotion of ‘Quhesalia’ as a tourist attraction on the routes in the province.

Finally, the mayor and the councilor welcomed the news about the start of the bidding process for the rehabilitation of the road CR-1342, which connects Herencia with Villarta de San Juan, highlighting its importance for the safety and well-being of the citizens.

This meeting marked a crucial step towards closer collaboration between the City Council of Herencia and the Diputación de Ciudad Real, seeking to promote the development and improvement of the locality.
