The Business Federation of Ciudad Real (Fecir) held its emblematic gala for the delivery of the 2024 Business Merit Awards on Friday, an event that brought together the main figures of the business and political sector of the province at the Ciudad Real fairground. At this annual event, excellence, effort, and innovation of companies, SMEs, and self-employed individuals that drive the local economy were recognized.
The Minister of Economy, Enterprises, and Employment of Castilla-La Mancha, Patricia Franco, highlighted the strength of the business sector in Ciudad Real, emphasizing the importance of large corporations such as Repsol and Félix Solís, as well as the essential role of small businesses and self-employed individuals. Additionally, the minister mentioned the regional government’s commitment to those affected by the recent DANA storm, mentioning the approval of 2 million euros in aid to support SMEs and self-employed individuals in towns like Letur and Mira.
Carlos Marín, president of Fecir, took the opportunity to advocate for greater support for SMEs and self-employed individuals in the face of challenges like increased tax pressure, while also thanking the support of local institutions such as the Provincial Council, the Regional Government, and the City Council of Ciudad Real.
The gala highlighted the diversity of the business sector in the province with a list of awardees from different sectors. Some of the notable winners in 2024 included Transportes Abengoza for the Family Business category, Eva Rodrigo Sánchez for Self-Employed of the Year, and Sefucal SL for Local and Regional Development. The event also recognized companies like Repsol Puertollano and Félix Solís Avantis for their investments in innovation and international expansion, respectively.
In the social sphere, the Spanish Association against Cancer was honored for its work, while the Infocam Service received an award for its outstanding work in firefighting prevention and extinguishing. Additionally, in the field of journalism, Ernesto Sáenz de Buruaga and Ángel Expósito were recognized for their contributions to economic and business reporting.
A highlight of the gala was the award presentation to Transportes Abengoza, a company based in Herencia that has become a leader in freight transportation over three generations. The event was attended by councilors from Herencia, María Eugenia Díaz-Pacheco and José Manuel Aragonés, who accompanied the Abengoza family in this significant recognition.
Through this gala, Fecir reaffirms its commitment to the business development of Ciudad Real, promoting collaboration between public institutions and the private sector to continue strengthening the provincial economy.
