The Herencia City Council has launched a call for a design contest for road signs as part of the Public Spaces Beautification Plan. The initiative, led by the Tourism and Heritage department, aims to rehabilitate the signalling elements to boost tourist attraction.
A total of 29 roads and public spaces will be signposted, incorporating a drawing or allegory related to the indicated place and the old name of the street. The nomenclature must be clear and legible. In addition, in some specific places, the addition of a small text with the history or particularities of the place will be allowed.
The Heritage and Urbanism Council has chosen printed or painted tile format for the designs, which will be mainly placed in the busiest streets of Herencia, as well as in other places of interest, such as local chapels.
Interested designers can find all the information in the attached PDF files. The deadline for submitting proposals is from March 6 to March 19, and the winning proposal will receive a cash prize of €1,825.
The Tourism and Heritage Councillor, José Manuel Bolaños Viso, has declared that “this action will help renovate the signage of the most frequented areas of Herencia. This project aims to provide stylistic uniformity and artistic value, as well as to highlight the local history.”
