Herencia celebrates the consolidation of an innovative laundry service at the Occupational Center ‘El Picazuelo’, which serves as a platform for socio-labor integration for its users and as efficient support for local businesses. This project, highlighted by Mayor Sergio García-Navas and Social Welfare Councillor Conchi Rodríguez-Palancas during their recent visit, reflects the municipality’s commitment to inclusion and community service.
The laundry workshop, which has been in operation for months, has become a key factor in improving the personal autonomy of users, while also offering a quality service to entities and individuals. Directed by Lola Diaz-Pavón, the service has gained popularity, particularly among restaurants looking for an effective solution for maintaining their table linens and individuals who require special care for their bedding.
The implementation of this initiative has been made possible thanks to grants from the Castilla-La Mancha Regional Government and the Next Generation Funds, as part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. This progressive approach to the care economy has allowed ‘El Picazuelo’ to expand its facilities and services, promoting inclusion and contributing to Herencia’s business community.
Since its opening in October 2005, ‘El Picazuelo’ has been growing in services and the number of users participating in its vocational training and creative development program. The center welcomes people with various care needs from neighboring towns such as Villafranca de los Caballeros, Puerto Lápice, Villarta de San Juan, and Herencia itself, demonstrating its reach and the need for such services in the region.
This laundry service is another example of how Herencia invests in sustainable initiatives that promote social and labor integration, and improve the quality of life for its citizens.
