Last Sunday, July 9, Herencia became the venue for the final test of the 3rd Beach Handball Circuit organized by the Castilla-La Mancha Handball Federation. In this crucial event, it was decided who would be the regional champions in the Youth and Senior categories, who would also earn direct access to the 2024 Spain Cup.
Throughout Sunday, spectators enjoyed exciting high-level matches, including the Female Youth Final. In this standout match, the local team from Herencia not only won the circuit but also became the champion of Castilla-La Mancha. In recognition of this exceptional achievement, the young players are already looking forward to competing in the Spain Cup next year.
In other news, special mention must be made of the achievements of the Infant and Cadet players from Herencia, who won bronze and silver medals in the tournaments in Cangas and León, respectively. In addition, Elena González was recognized as the best goalkeeper, adding an additional honor to the team’s record.
We must not forget to thank Noelia Delfa for her quick and effective intervention, which prevented the dislocation suffered by player and coach Mauricio Vélez Lazo from resulting in a more serious injury.
Serafín Tajuelo, Councilor for Sports, and Concepción Rodríguez-Palancas, Councilor for Personnel, were present at the awards ceremony on behalf of the Government Team. Pedro Rodríguez and Julia Miguel attended on behalf of the Handball Federation, along with members of the local club’s board of directors. The great participation and support shown during the event reinforce the love and dedication that the Herencia community has for handball.
