Herencia rediscovers its hidden heritage with the Route of the Courtyards.

On the 1st of May, residents of Herencia and visitors will have a unique opportunity to explore the city’s hidden heritage through the Route of the Courtyards. This event, which has become a must-attend for history and local architecture lovers, will allow participants to delve into some of the most emblematic and less accessible courtyards in the town.

In this new edition, two different routes have been organized to cover a wider selection of historical courtyards. The first route, starting at 6:00 p.m., will include a visit to the courtyards at Calle Colón 3 and Carrasco Alcalde 13, both outstanding examples of 18th-century architecture. This route will conclude at the courtyard at Calle Tahona 8, dating back to 1920 and offering a different perspective on the urban evolution of Herencia.

The second route, taking place at 8:00 p.m., will lead attendees through the courtyard of Casa de la Merced, a place intended to become a hostel and a notable example of 18th-century architecture. It will continue with visits to the courtyards on Calle Colón 48 and Lope de Vega 26, belonging to the 19th and 20th centuries respectively, thus offering a glimpse of the city’s architectural diversity through the ages.

Tickets for both routes will be available starting from April 16th at 10:00 a.m. on the Town Hall’s online platform for procedures. A limit of four tickets per person has been established to ensure that more people have the opportunity to enjoy this cultural experience.

For those facing difficulties with digital access, the Town Hall has set up a Digital Inclusion Point at the Municipal Library. Here, interested individuals can request an appointment by calling 661990450, where they will receive personalized assistance for the acquisition of their tickets, ensuring that the process is accessible to all.

This event is not only a celebration of Herencia’s rich historical legacy but also an opportunity to appreciate the architecture and culture that defines the identity of this charming Manchegan town.
