On Sunday, June 4th, the Sierra de la Horca in Herencia hosted the first edition of the XCO competition. The event, organized by the Cycling Club “Amigos del Plato Grande” in collaboration with the Municipal Sports Service of the City Council, the Provincial Government of Ciudad Real and the Sports Board of Castilla-La Mancha, brought together more than 150 participants, both adults and children, in the 20 categories in which the race was divided.
This year, Herencia embarked on this new project, hosting a BTT XC Cup race of Castilla-La Mancha, being the only one of its kind held in the province of Ciudad Real. This achievement was possible thanks to the immense work carried out by the “Amigos del Plato Grande”, to whom their effort and dedication are deeply appreciated.
The participants gathered at the iconic windmills of Herencia, where they gave their best effort throughout the event. Congratulations to all the registered athletes for their commitment and special thanks to all sponsors and companies that made this event possible.
The trophy presentation was attended by Sergio García-Navas, Mayor of Herencia, Francisco Gallego, sports councilor, Ismael Gómez Martínez, President of “Amigos del Plato Grande” and the rest of the cycling club members. This ceremony served as a culmination to a sporting event that undoubtedly marked a milestone in the town of Herencia.
