The municipality of Herencia has launched an ambitious Plan for the Improvement and Conditioning of Agrotourism Road Infrastructures, with the main goal of optimizing the network of rural roads. The mayor, Sergio García-Navas, and the councilor for Rural Development, Mª Eugenia Díaz-Pacheco, have supervised the start of the works, which include the repair of key roads such as the Camino de Quero and the road from Villarrubia to Alcázar de San Juan.
This project, which received approval and funding from the Provincial Council in May, aims to improve existing infrastructure and continue the effort to enhance rural roads. Improving these roads is crucial to facilitate access to agricultural and forestry farms, which constitute a significant part of the economic activity in Herencia.
The councilor Mª Eugenia Díaz-Pacheco has emphasized the importance of these improvements: “Over time, roads suffer wear and tear due to factors such as rain or the transit of heavy vehicles. It is essential to condition them to ensure their passability, which in turn allows for the continued and sustainable development of agriculture and livestock in our municipality.”
The improvement works will focus on the road surface and will be carried out on the existing road routes. In addition, small additional works will be carried out such as the installation of water crossings and safety barriers, among other necessary technical actions.
With these actions, the Herencia Town Council reinforces its commitment to the primary sector, ensuring viable and efficient infrastructures that directly benefit the farmers and ranchers in the area. This plan not only represents an improvement in local infrastructure but also an investment in the economic future and wellbeing of the municipality.
