Inheritance and the Brotherhood of Jesus of Medinaceli and Virgin of the Assumption sign agreement for the use of the Municipal Cemetery Chapel.

In an emotional ceremony held last Tuesday, the mayor of Herencia, Sergio García-Navas, on behalf of the city council, and the president of the Brotherhood of Jesus of Medinaceli and Virgin of the Assumption, M.ª Isabel Díaz-Pavón, signed an important agreement. This agreement allows the use of the Municipal Cemetery chapel for Catholic worship activities for the next four years.

The ceremony also had the presence of Inmaculada López-Escribano, a member of the Brotherhood’s Board of Directors, who, along with the signatories, ratified this commitment that reaffirms the close collaboration between the City Council and the religious institution.

Through this agreement, the Brotherhood undertakes to maintain the chapel in optimal conditions of conservation, cleanliness, and maintenance. This will ensure that both residents and visitors can venerate not only the revered ancient image of Jesus of Medinaceli but also other religious figures that have been recently added to this sacred space.

The signing of this agreement represents a further step in strengthening the ties between the religious community of Herencia and the local government, ensuring that tradition and faith continue to be fundamental pillars in the life of the town.

This agreement underscores the commitment of the Herencia City Council to preserving and promoting the city’s cultural and spiritual heritage, offering its residents dignified spaces for the practice of their faith. The Municipal Cemetery chapel, now under the careful watch of the Brotherhood of Jesus of Medinaceli and Virgin of the Assumption, becomes a witness to devotion and respect for the traditions that define Herencia.

The community eagerly looks forward to participating in the worship activities organized in this renewed space, thus reaffirming their faith and commitment to Herencia’s spiritual legacy.
