The Corresponsables Program has begun its journey this year, with the aim of facilitating family, work, and personal reconciliation during the summer holidays. This public resource, managed by the Institute of Women of Castilla-La Mancha and funded by the Ministry of Equality, benefits more than 100 families in the region.
The program, available from July 3 to August 31 at the Pablo Iglesias Youth Center and the Nursery School, offers activities from 9am to 2pm. To date, 101 children are registered, divided by age into 3 classrooms from 3 to 10 years old. During the month of August, 4 more classrooms will be set up for babies, thus responding to all requests made.
The mayor, Sergio García-Navas, and the Councilor for Equality, Aitor Gallego de la Sacristana, have confirmed that during these two months, children participate in a wide variety of activities. These include cooking workshops, emotional workshops, crafts, mural art, water and table games, as well as visits to exhibitions and the municipal library.
The Corresponsables Program aims to ensure the care of children up to 10 years old, allowing for a redistribution of tasks and care times during the summer holidays. The program offers families in which both parents are working, or single-parent families, the possibility of leaving their children in the care of professionals in a suitable environment. This approach promotes gender equality in employment and promotes personal and professional development.
The Councilor for Equality and Youth, Aitor Gallego de la Sacristana, emphasized during a visit made this week that “we all must get involved so that reconciliation becomes an achievable reality for families.” He highlighted the need for subsidies like this, which prioritize the care of children and ensure that men and women have the same opportunities for personal and professional development.
