The commitment to water quality in the municipality of Herencia has led the Potable Water Treatment Station (ETAP) to carry out a series of renovation actions to optimize its operation. In a recent intervention, the replacement of 60 nanofiltration membranes has been carried out in two of the three treatment lines that the station has. It is worth mentioning that the remaining line had already undergone a similar renovation in November 2019.
These actions, which are part of the Hydraulic Cycle Management Agreement, promise a significant improvement in water production at the plant. According to the Service Councilor, José Manuel Bolaños Viso, the recently installed membranes have higher efficiency, which allows treating a larger volume of water. This not only guarantees a higher quality of water reaching the homes in the municipality, but also a more effective management of water resources, since the volume of discarded water is reduced.
The nanofiltration process involves passing water through a semipermeable membrane under certain pressure, resulting in the separation of molecules based on their size. In the context of Herencia, this procedure is primarily aimed at reducing salts such as sulphates and nitrates present in the captured water. EMASER emphasizes that, thanks to this technique, other essential benefits are also achieved, such as water softening and the removal of impurities such as color, pesticides, and heavy metals.
In an effort to keep the community informed, EMASER highlights that the water quality is verified through monthly analysis. These reports are available to the public and can be reviewed on the notice board of the Herencia Town Hall. With these initiatives, the commitment to the health and well-being of the inhabitants of the locality is strengthened.
