The passion for mountain biking was tangible in the air last Sunday in the Sierra de la Horca de Herencia, where the second edition of the XCO race took place. The competition, which has already become a must-attend event on the regional sports calendar, was made possible thanks to the impeccable organization of the Club Ciclista Amigos del Plato Grande and the support of the Municipal Sports Service of the City Council, the Diputación de Ciudad Real, and the Sports Council of Castilla-La Mancha.
Herencia, firm in its commitment to cycling, took the plunge last year to host this XCO race, being the privileged provincial enclave for the only race of this kind in Ciudad Real during 2024.
The competition was warmly welcomed by over 200 cyclists who gathered at the iconic windmills of Herencia, demonstrating great skill and endurance on a circuit that challenged their limits. Participants, coming from various parts of the region, faced the challenges of the terrain with determination, providing an exciting and sportsmanlike spectacle.
The day ended with the trophy presentation ceremony, presided over by Serafin Tajuelo, Sports Councilor, alongside Ismael Gómez Martinez, President of Amigos del Plato Grande. The event was a clear example of the unity and camaraderie that sports inspire, and a recognition of the perseverance and competitive spirit of all the riders.
