Herencia bid farewell to 2024 with a large dose of sports and solidarity thanks to the celebration of a new edition of the San Silvestre Herenciana. This event, which is part of the Christmas Sports program organized by the Municipal Sports Service of the City Council, brought together about 600 runners who joined forces for a charitable cause.
Sport and solidarity hand in hand
Once again, the San Silvestre Herenciana had a special purpose: to collaborate with the association Las Supernenas, which will donate the proceeds to AFANION, the Association of Families of Children with Cancer. This act of solidarity reaffirms Herencia’s commitment to social causes, demonstrating that sports can also be a tool for change and support.
The event was divided into two races: one for children, with the participation of around 80 kids, and a 5-kilometer route for adults. Both categories filled the streets of the town with enthusiasm and color, turning the race into a true sports celebration.
A thank you to the whole community
The race was made possible thanks to the collaborative effort of the Local Police, Civil Protection, Red Cross, and numerous volunteers, who ensured that the event ran smoothly and safely. The organizers extended a special thank you to all of them, as well as to the runners who participated in this edition.
The trophy presentation was attended by Mayor Sergio García-Navas, Sports Councilor Serafín Tajuelo, Councilor Aitor Gallego de la Sacristana, and Juan Carlos Fernández-Baillo. Along with them, representatives of Las Supernenas expressed their gratitude for the involvement of the people of Herencia.
A unique year-end farewell
The San Silvestre Herenciana was not only a healthy way to say goodbye to the year, but also an act that reinforced the values of unity, solidarity, and social commitment. With this event, Herencia closed 2024 looking towards a future full of energy and collective support. Congratulations to all the participants and organizers for this success!
