The Civil Guard has arrested a woman accused of committing multiple crimes of fraud and falsification of documents in the town of Herencia, related to fraudulent insurance policy contracts.
The investigation began in March, when the Civil Guard received several complaints about suspicious activities related to insurance contracts. According to authorities, the detainee, who worked as an insurance agent, offered policies that were never paid to the insurance companies. Instead, the woman kept the money that clients paid for the policies.
The victims received fake receipts that made them believe that their insurance was active. However, once the grace period expired, during which policyholders could rectify the payment, the policies became ineffective. As a result, the affected individuals were left without coverage and faced numerous problems.
In total, 65 people were defrauded, with an amount exceeding 40,000 euros. The consequences for the victims were not only financial. Many faced administrative complaints for traffic safety issues, problems with repairs in their homes, and even complications with funeral insurance.
The detainee has been brought before the Court of First Instance and Instruction No. 1 of Alcázar de San Juan, accused of mass fraud and a continuous crime of falsification of documents.
The Civil Guard has urged anyone who believes they have been a victim of this fraud to contact them to provide more information and receive advice.
