The Heritage Night of Herencia will highlight the industrial wealth of the town.

The Tourism and Heritage area of Herencia is finalizing the details for a new edition of the Heritage Night, framed within the ViVher Villa de Herencia Cultural Festival. The event, which will take place on Saturday, August 17th, will showcase the industrial heritage assets linked to the oldest agri-food sector in the town.

Guided tours will begin at the San José Winery Cooperative, an emblematic place where attendees can explore the old winery and learn about the heritage and historical details of this mythical Herencia winery, key to the local agricultural sector. Subsequently, the groups will head to the oldest operating industry in Herencia: Harinas Palmero. Located in Plaza de la Libertad, this is one of the three only flour factories that continue to produce in the province of Ciudad Real, with its origins dating back to the 19th century.

The day will conclude with a visit to the ‘Don Mariano’ alcohol factory, whose facilities have remained intact, preserving all the original machinery from the period. This factory produced alcohol derived from pomace for local consumption, offering a unique glimpse into Herencia’s industrial history.

As in previous editions, each tour will be accompanied by an artistic representation that will recreate historical moments of the visited properties, combining art and heritage and promoting local talent. In this edition, the Herencia Folk Group, the local group Antotipía, and a cast of young local actors will collaborate.

Tickets for this experience are available through the AyMo app at a cost of €4, with a limit of four per person. Sales will start at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 1st. For those who have difficulties with technology, a Digital Inclusion Point has been set up at the Municipal Library, where they can receive personalized assistance by appointment at 661990450.

The activity will be organized in three groups with staggered schedules: group A will start at 9:00 p.m., group B at 9:30 p.m., and group C at 10:00 p.m. Participants should arrive at the time indicated on their tickets at the entrance of the San José Winery Cooperative (Avenida de la Encarnación, 15) to start the tour. It is important to note that, due to the architectural characteristics of the properties, this activity is not accessible to people with reduced mobility.

M.ª Eugenia Díaz-Pacheco Galán, Councilor for Tourism and Heritage, stated: “The differentiating feature of this edition is the municipal commitment to heritage linked to transformation companies in the primary sector. Understanding how our agriculture is transformed into consumer products brings us closer to our history, makes us aware of our environment, and the importance of our countryside.”

Herencia’s Heritage Night promises to be an enriching day that will connect participants with the industrial and agricultural history of the town, celebrating its legacy and evolution.
