The Governing Board of the City Council of Ciudad Real has approved the tendering process for the rehabilitation project of the CR-1342 road, also known as the ‘carreterín’, which connects Villarta de San Juan with Herencia. This initiative, initially approved in July 2022, has successfully passed all administrative procedures during the last term of office and is now entering the tendering phase for the award of the works, with an estimated investment of €2,798,000.
The rehabilitation of this road is a crucial intervention that will significantly improve traffic safety. The ‘carreterín’ is used daily by hundreds of vehicles, not only for educational or healthcare purposes, but also by dozens of farmers who use it to access their workplaces. This project is essential to ensure mobility and improve the circulation conditions for the residents.
The works, estimated to last around 9 months, will widen the road to 7 meters in width, with an additional 50 cm shoulder on both sides. Additionally, the most challenging curves will be improved and the road level will be raised at some critical points to prevent flooding and enhance road safety.
The Herencia City Council has expressed its gratitude to the City Council of Ciudad Real for their commitment to this project. They have recognized the urgency and importance of this initiative, which was initiated two years ago by José Manuel Caballero. This joint effort between administrations demonstrates how cooperation and responsible use of public resources can contribute to providing quality services to the population.
