The thirteenth edition of the Quijote’s Handball Cup 2023 tournament has started in Herencia with great anticipation. This prestigious event is the result of collaboration between the Herencia Handball Club, the Municipal Sports Service of the City Council, the Provincial Council, and the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha.
This tournament has established itself as a reference in grassroots sports in the central region of the country, and this edition breaks records with over 700 registered participants. It is expected that around 500 people will stay in our town during the tournament, providing a significant boost to local hospitality and commerce.
The competition, which will begin on Friday at 09:00, will be played from the youth to junior categories, with a program of nearly 250 matches between indoor and beach handball. The matches will take place in five sports facilities in the municipality.
In addition to sports, participating teams will be able to enjoy a series of parallel activities, including beach handball, access to the municipal swimming pool, and a parade through the main streets of the town.
Today, all attendees who will be staying in various municipal facilities and spaces provided by different schools and associations will be welcomed. In the words of Mayor Sergio García-Navas, we should thank them “for their support and willingness to successfully develop this sports event.”
Herencia is preparing to provide an unforgettable experience to all participating teams and showcase the best of this sport to visitors of the municipality over these days. As the mayor assures, these four days will turn Herencia into the epicenter of sports, with significant benefits for the town.
