The cycling competition ‘Titán de la Mancha’ has once again captured attention in the national sports scene by being recognized as one of the top 20 mountain biking events in Spain. The event, which took place in the picturesque town of Alcázar de San Juan in Ciudad Real, celebrated its thirteenth edition and did not disappoint the fans and athletes who attended. Among them, several athletes from Herencia also made an appearance, demonstrating the growing passion for cycling in the region.
The Director General of Youth and Sports, Carlos Yuste, honored the event with his attendance and actively participated in the trophy presentation. During the ceremony, Yuste emphasized the importance of this event in the national sports calendar and its status as one of the most prestigious races of its kind in the country.
This year’s route took cyclists through impressive landscapes, from the windmills in Alcázar de San Juan and Herencia to the mountains of Puerto Lápice and Madridejos. The various race categories attracted a total of over 2,200 participants, from experts in BTT to enthusiasts in E-Bikes, Gravel, and Trail.
The ‘Titán de la Mancha’, twinned with the Titán Desert and organized by CD Alcázar Bikes, has maintained a standard of excellence throughout its editions, attracting cyclists from across the country. This year, new categories were introduced, including an 85 km ultratrail and a 65 km race, in addition to the always popular Minititán for the younger participants.
Mayor Rosa Melchor and other dignitaries, including the Vice President of the Provincial Council, María Jesús Pelayo, praised the flawless organization of the event and the sustained growth of the competition over the years. The President of CD Alcázar Bikes, José Luís Pinar, received a warm tribute for his dedication and passion for the sport.
Carlos Yuste, in his statements, affirmed the prominent position of ‘Titán de la Mancha’ in the national BTT events calendar and promised further support for next year, especially considering that Castilla-La Mancha will be the European Region of Sport.
Undoubtedly, ‘Titán de la Mancha’ is not only a testament to the resilience and passion of cyclists, but also to the vitality and enthusiasm of an entire community that comes together to celebrate sports and camaraderie.
