The transformation of the House of the Friars into a hostel in Herencia continues to progress.

Inheritance is preparing to start an ambitious rehabilitation project that will turn the historic Casa de los Frailes into a modern inn. The bidding process for the refurbishment works is already underway, with the renovations scheduled to begin in the coming weeks. This initiative positions Inheritance at the forefront of cultural and quality tourism.

The project, representing an investment of 750,000 euros, will not only revitalize an emblematic 18th-century building with an area of over 1,200 square meters, but will also enhance the historical and religious heritage of the town. The plan includes the creation of 26 rooms with capacity for 52 guests and various common areas, including a kitchen, dining room, laundry, and restaurant, always respecting the integrity of the local heritage.

The future inn, which promises to be a benchmark in quality accommodation, will be integrated into the Regional Network of Inns of Castilla-La Mancha, guaranteeing its promotion and access to a top-level network of tourist services.

The construction works, whose bidding process is expected to be resolved shortly, have an estimated duration of 12 months from the start of the layout. This step forward reaffirms Inheritance’s commitment to preserving its architectural wealth and its strong emphasis on tourism development.

The start of this project in March 2023 was made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Inheritance City Council, the Government of Castilla-La Mancha, the City Council of Ciudad Real, and the Order of the Merced. With a reimbursable advance from the previous Provincial Corporation, the conservation of a highly valued asset by the Inheritance community has been guaranteed, laying the groundwork for a resource that will revitalize the town’s tourism offering.

This milestone in Inheritance’s history reflects the success of inter-institutional cooperation aimed at offering not only services and structures that enhance the well-being of residents, but also promoting economic development through tourism. Mayor Sergio García-Navas emphasized this achievement, expressing gratitude for the commitment shown by all parties involved. This first phase of the intervention marks the beginning of a period in which Inheritance will be able to offer high-level accommodation in a historical context, providing a unique experience to visitors and generating a positive impact on the community.

Once operational, the inn will not only protect and give a new use to a significant building, but will also contribute to the cultural and social dynamism of Inheritance. The project leaders have reiterated that its implementation is a key strategy for the tourism and cultural development of the municipality, and they are confident that it will become a preferred destination for those seeking to discover the rich historical heritage of the region.
