A journey through the art of storytelling

The Town Council of Herencia, in a committed effort to culture and oral tradition, brings us the third edition of the Festival of the spoken word art: “Herencia de las Palabras” (Inheritance of Words). From October 17th to 21st, the town will be filled with stories, tales, and legends by some of the most renowned storytellers in the country.

This festival, sponsored by the Municipal Library, will host the voices and stories of renowned narrators such as Félix Albo, Virginia Imaz, Oswaldo Pai, and the charismatic Gran Jordiet. For five days, these masters of the spoken word will transport the audience to magical, real or imaginary worlds through their unparalleled art of storytelling.

The evenings will be reserved for performances aimed at young people and adults, where attendees will not only enjoy magnificent stories but also immerse themselves in the fascinating world of oral storytelling. As a tradition, the event will feature the “Reader’s Gala,” which celebrates its fifteenth edition this year.

But the younger ones will not be forgotten. Special sessions have been organized for babies and families, ensuring that the festival is an enriching experience for everyone. In addition, among the most prominent activities is a bike ride where stories will intertwine with pastoral paths. There will also be specially scheduled sessions for educational centers, totaling 16 activities during the festival.
