Last Saturday, Herencia (Ciudad Real) became a living stage of the 17th century thanks to the celebration of the Baroque Pride Day, a day dedicated to rescuing and showcasing the artistic and historical richness of the municipality. Attendees were able to enjoy the Baroque Heritage, a tourist route that highlighted the recent restorations carried out in important local monuments.
A tour through Baroque splendor
The route began at the Hermitage of La Labradora, built in 1655, where visitors could admire its semi-spherical dome decorated with the litanies of the Virgin. This work, which remained hidden for decades, has been restored by the town council, restoring its original splendor and allowing attendees to enjoy its delicate sacred art.
The tour continued at the Claustro de la Merced, built in 1656, a space of singular beauty that combines architecture and spirituality. Finally, participants concluded their visit at the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament of the Immaculate Conception Church, where a monumental pictorial work recently restored is exhibited, considered one of the most important gems of the local artistic heritage.
An immersive experience through art and music
Beyond contemplating the restored pieces, the route included performances of Baroque music and dance, transporting attendees to the atmosphere of the 17th and 18th centuries. These elements not only enriched the experience but also connected visitors with the cultural essence of that time.
In the words of some attendees: “The restoration of our heritage is not only a way to preserve our history, but also to project our cultural identity into the future. Events like this allow residents and visitors to rediscover the artistic richness that Herencia has preserved for centuries.”
Restoration as a cultural and touristic driver
The work done in recent years to recover and preserve the artistic heritage of Herencia is turning the municipality into a cultural reference in Castilla-La Mancha. These restorations not only promote knowledge and respect for local history but also encourage tourism, attracting visitors interested in Baroque art and architecture.
The pride of a living legacy
The Baroque Pride Day has been a demonstration of Herencia’s commitment to its past, present, and future. Thanks to these actions, the municipality manages to highlight its historical heritage as an essential value for the region’s identity, ensuring that future generations can enjoy and learn from this unique legacy.
With events like this, Herencia not only celebrates its rich history but also establishes itself as an essential cultural destination in the province of Ciudad Real.
