This week, Herencia is adorned with activities in honor of the Week of Different Abilities, taking place from November 28 to December 6. In an emotional Institutional Ceremony held today in the Town Hall Courtyard, the mayor Sergio García Navas, along with the manager of Laborvalia, Alfonso Gutiérrez, and the councilor for Social Welfare, Conchi Rodríguez-Palancas, presented a Decalogue of Good Practices to the Mercedarian Minor Seminary. This event was marked by the significant presence of the school’s director and the head of the college.
The event also served to close the innovative Stikers Project, developed by the Occupational Center in collaboration with Laborvalia and the College of the Mercedarian Mothers. This initiative involved students in a series of municipal sports activities, promoting integration and camaraderie among the young people of the Municipal Sports School.
A blue ribbon, symbol of inclusion, adorns the balcony of the Town Hall, reminding of Herencia’s commitment to the dignity and rights of all people. This gesture anticipates the commemoration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, to be celebrated on December 3. On this day, professionals and users of the resources of the Occupational Center El Picazuelo and the Residence Carpe Diem will come together in recognition and solidarity.
With these actions, Herencia underlines its firm commitment to build a more inclusive community and be aware of the richness that diversity brings. The town becomes a model of how social cohesion and equal opportunities can be woven into the daily life of the municipality.
