The Herencia City Council, in collaboration with the water supply management company Emaser, has carried out significant improvements in the municipality’s water supply network. These actions are in response to the requirements of the Royal Decree 3/2023, which establishes new technical and health criteria to ensure the quality of drinking water.
The mayor of Herencia, Sergio García-Navas, accompanied by Emaser’s manager, Joaquín Torres, and the Production manager, Eduardo Juliá, visited the facilities to check the progress of the interventions, which aim to optimize the supply and reduce inconveniences for residents.
One of the highlighted actions has been the sectorization of the urbanization area near the funeral home, through the installation of cut-off valves. This measure allows for more effective intervention in case of breakdowns, reducing repair times and minimizing water cuts.
In the Industrial Park, on Los Caleros Street, four cut-off valves have been installed at the corners to prevent widespread supply cuts in case of incidents. Additionally, 60 meters of deteriorated pipeline have been replaced with oriented PVC pipes, increasing the flow to industrial connections and improving network efficiency.
Advanced control has been implemented in the Palancas water catchment area, with the installation of two flow meters (one per well) to monitor the volumes of water extracted, in compliance with the Guadiana River Basin Authority regulations. These measures, in line with the ARM/1312/2009 order, allow for thorough monitoring of the pipeline’s performance supplying the La Juncada reservoir, located 12 kilometers away.
Furthermore, at the La Pedriza catchment area, an automation system and operation of the well have been implemented through a remotely controlled pneumatic solenoid valve via wifi. This ensures a more effective service in terms of the quantity and quality of water supplied.
Mayor Sergio García-Navas emphasized the importance of these interventions to optimize the service:
“With these interventions, we achieve efficient control of the network, being able to act more quickly in managing incidents in the supply infrastructure, positively impacting the service provided to households in the municipality.”
These improvements not only comply with current health legislation but also strengthen Herencia’s water infrastructure, ensuring a more efficient and sustainable supply for its residents.
