The celebration of World Red Cross Day in Herencia and across the country.

Today, May 8th, is World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, an occasion to recognize the invaluable work of volunteers and employees who save lives, assist those in need, and promote a change of mindset worldwide. The theme this year is “We act from the heart,” focusing on the individuals within communities who selflessly offer their support to those in need.

In Herencia, the seven mills with new lighting will be dyed red to commemorate this day. Similarly, landmark buildings and official buildings in other Spanish towns will also be illuminated in red in honor of the volunteers and the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

Throughout the day, various activities will be carried out across the territory, including games, awareness and values education activities, ludic-educational activities with children, open house events, drawing contests, scavenger hunts, drills, commemoration events, and photographic exhibitions on “Humanity in War” with images from the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The celebration of World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day is an opportunity to showcase the work of the organization and to share and celebrate the legacy of its founder, Henry Dunant, who was born on May 8th, 1828. The Red Cross remains a beacon of hope and humanity in difficult times, thanks to the tireless work of its volunteers and employees.
