Great success in the third edition of the Run Like Hero event benefiting the Phelan McDermid Association.

This Sunday, Herencia experienced a day of solidarity with the celebration of the third edition of the Run Like Hero race, which brought together 750 people in a sports initiative with a clear charitable purpose: raising funds for the Phelan McDermid Association.

The event, attended by prominent authorities such as national deputy Gonzalo Redondo, provincial deputy and councilor of Herencia José Manuel Bolaños, and Mayor Sergio García-Navas, opened with an emotional ribbon-cutting ceremony by young Marco, a Herencia resident affected by Phelan-McDermid Syndrome, accompanied by association representatives.

The Run Like Hero was not only a space for sports competition, but also a day of solidarity and awareness. All funds raised will be allocated to research on this rare genetic disorder and to provide support to families living with it. The Phelan McDermid Association, which has been working for years to improve the quality of life of those affected, thanked the runners and attendees for their participation and commitment.

A day for all ages

The event not only attracted runners of different ages and levels, but also offered a wide range of activities for people of all ages to enjoy and contribute to this noble cause. From games for the little ones to interactive workshops and fun activities, the morning was filled with fun and solidarity.

The festive atmosphere and massive participation demonstrated the community support from Herencia and its surroundings for this cause. “These initiatives not only help us raise funds, but also raise awareness about the reality of families living with Phelan-McDermid Syndrome,” commented one of the association representatives.

Solidarity in motion

The Run Like Hero has become an annual event that combines sports, solidarity, and a strong social commitment. This third edition set a new attendance record, highlighting the growing awareness of the importance of supporting research on rare diseases. The organizers emphasized the value of these initiatives in strengthening social ties and supporting the causes that need it the most.

With an eye on future editions, the Run Like Hero remains an example of how sports can be a powerful tool for creating a positive impact in society.
